Software Engineer Reviews
What is it like working as a Software Engineer?
April 2020
Software Engineer in Fort Wayne:
Pros: Working at Sweetwater is being surrounded by great people working in an industry that most truly love. There is a strong, genuine culture of trying to do the right thing and caring for one another, from top to bottom.
Cons: In some areas of the company, the processes are not well defined, communication can be lacking, and a unified, clear strategy is not well deployed to the employees.

Software Engineer:
The culture is based around dog eat dog. People will get rewarded for being deferential to the managers and upper management above them and not for thinking for themselves. In fact it is highly discouraged to be innovative and thinking outside the box as you will likely clash with someone more important than you's opinion and that will put you on their bad side and they'll give you a bad review in the YE review stack ranking process. Work is heavily compartmentalized along functional silos and you are not allowed to have insight into each silos work, else you'll get on someone's bad side and they will give you a bad review in YE calibrations. Higher ups speak a lot about engineering excellence and DevOps ideals, but you are not allowed to do that, only "DevOps" is flowed top to bottom, it is not self-organizing. If you want to work in a highly bureaucratic environment, work here.
Benefits are competitive, and good, though and that's why I gave two stars instead of 1.

Software Engineer:
I’ve seen people, policies, procedures, and platforms come and go. There is one stable factor that has been through it all and that is the Ohana, or family, that everyone brings with them and provides to each other at work.
