Pros: Low cost of living, beautiful city, not as crowded or mean as New York

Software Engineer:
The company is overall okay. There are lots of events and internal support which is great. The culture is overall pretty standard and stuffy, not many young or interesting people. Compensation is very below market value, especially for a software engineer. Management really just depends on the team and organization - you can get really lucky or unlucky.

Pros: Diversity of the people working in tech companies and living in the city. Variety of interesting companies (relative to other European cities anyways)
Cons: Brexit, housing price, weather.

Low cost of living.
Software Engineer in Austin:
Pros: The low cost of living, 0% state income tax in Texas, and a laid-back culture.
Cons: The severe lack of public transportation. There is only one train line in the entire city! It stops running on weekdays at 6:40 PM, and it does not even run on Sundays. The "rapid" buses still have to sit in traffic. This makes it difficult for many of my coworkers to spend a full day at the office, and sometimes they can't get to the office at all because parking is expensive and scarce and rush-hour traffic is a nightmare.
